Early the week of January 16th I will be receiving a large delivery coming by 70 foot semi that may ignite some curiosity and possibly some unwarranted concern. So the purpose of this message is to let folks know the who, what, and why so you can get more info if you'd like and to head off any incorrect speculation or rumors.

Last year I moved back to Guemes as a full-time resident, bought property on upper Holiday Blvd, and started to design my dream home. My home will be the first of its kind in the United States and about the 10th in the world - a free-standing house totally enclosed inside a greenhouse. The greenhouse is a standard commercial-agricultural 35ftx60ft greenhouse like youd see at a farm in the valley. Matt Simons is my builder. Construction began in November and next week the greenhouse is arriving. If you'd like to find out more, or follow along with the progress, I am making progress posts on Facebook, Instagram, and a blog. I am also posting progress videos on YouTube - all sites are under the name LiveInAGreenhouse (www.liveinagreenhouse.com)

To be clear - The greenhouse is permitted. I am not going to be growing marijuana or do any form of commercial farming. The greenhouse will not have supplemental heat and it will not have the ability for black-out (as needed to grow MJ). It will not be a drain on the Holiday Hideaway Water system as it will use only rainwater for irrigation as allowed by Skagit County with 5,000gl storage capacity to start, and the irrigation system will not connect to potable water at all.

Hopefully the greenhouse will be standing by the end of January but will be visible from Holiday Blvd only until the carport is built at the end of the project that will block the view. I expect that it will not be visible from either Holiday or Hideaway once construction is done.

I welcome questions and supportive comments.

Cheers,
Shawn Waliser
